Saint George Voivodal Church in Bucharest is the most important ecclesial foundation of Constantin Brancovan. It was consecrated by Hrisant Nottara, patriarch of Jerusalem, in the presence of Constantin Brancovan and of an assembly of priests in 1707. After Brancovan’s death, 1714, as Anton Maria del Chiaro, his secretary, asserted, the remains of the martyrs were buried in the Assumption Church on the Halki Island. Maria, the prince’s faithful consort, stealthily displaced their remains to this church, because Ahmed III, the sultan who doomed the Brancovans, was still on the throne of the Ottoman Empire.
