Maxineni Monastery is attested in a solemn charter issued by Matei Basarab in 1640. The building works lasted until 1651 when it was consecrated. Since 1750, it became a metochion of the Saint Panteleimon Hospital of Bucharest.

Constantine Brancovan vv. was a skillful politician who secured domestic peace and furthered Walachia's economic and cultural development. Under his rule, the "Brancovan" artistic style was created, an example of which can be seen in the palace at Mogoşoaia, near Bucharest.
